Fillers

Why fillers?

Biodegradable fillers (hyaluronic acid) can be used to soften or accentuate bone structures, replace missing volume, correct asymmetries and conceal wrinkles (deep, perioral, nasolabial folds, bitterness folds, etc.).

As their molecule is naturally present in our body, it is perfectly compatible with the skin and does not require any preliminary test.

A precise knowledge of anatomy, an understanding of the aging process, and a meticulous individualised evaluation precede each wrinkle treatment in order to obtain a natural and aesthetic result. The filling effect lasts from 6 months to 1 year. The duration increases with the applications because there is a positive effect on callogen stimulation.

– Skin Boosters / Skin Revitalisation Skin boosters are thin hyaluronic acid-based products that bind large amounts of moisture to achieve long-lasting hydration of the skin when micro-injected beneath its surface. They improve fine lines and skin tone on the face, neck, chest and hands.

– Biostimulator Karisma Karisma is a high quality biocompatible product composed of hyaluronic acid, R alpha-1 polypeptide chain, carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and type I RH collagen that aims to stimulate your own collagen and elastin production so that the skin can regenerate and improve its quality. It is broken down by the body over time, and the skin regains elasticity, radiance and vitality after a few weeks.

Progress of your transformation

During your first consultation with one of our specialised doctors, we will analyse together the scope of your objectives and expectations. This will allow us to define the methods of intervention and/or treatments required to meet your needs.

We will also take care to inform you of the potential limitations and inconveniences that may arise depending on said treatments or operations. We will also discuss pre- and post-operative issues in order to give you our recommendations and inform you of the actions and reflexes to take in case of complications. All important information will be given to you verbally and in writing.

You will have the opportunity to clarify any unclear areas and have all the key information to make a decision.

At the end of our first meeting, we will be able to:

  • plan treatments and/or procedures (including type of anaesthesia)
  • set up your medical file
  • prepare a complete quote

This appointment may be the occasion to set a date for the operation if you choose to do so, and to inform you of the modalities of anaesthesia according to the solutions required by your desires. Of course, some decisions require time and we will be there to answer your questions and clarify your doubts.

It is possible to pay for your treatment in several instalments.

Following surgery, it is normal for your body to react. Some symptoms are common and by no means alarming. Symptoms that could lead to more serious complications are rare, and if they occur, our team of caregivers will be available to take care of you.

If you observe these symptoms, there is no need to worry:

  • after 48 hours, a slight increase in temperature
  • after 72 hours, small amounts of blood in the dressings
  • a slight increase in inflammation or swelling

However, if you observe the following symptoms, please contact us:

  • more than 38.5° fever and chills – severe swelling, especially if it is located on one side
  • pain and redness of the operated area Keep in mind that your recovery period will depend on the type of surgery and factors specific to you.

We are all unique, so the details of your recovery cannot be entirely predictable. You begin a physical, but also emotional, transformation process. Be patient and let your body do what it does best. If you have any doubts, we are here for you.

The anaesthesia is chosen in consultation with you and your surgeon. Sometimes a pre-anaesthetic visit is necessary. For all anaesthesia, it is recommended to fast, i.e. not to eat 6 hours before the operation. The anaesthesiologist may refuse a patient who has not followed this instruction. Communication and trust are key from the first contact with your surgeon because working together can neutralise the risks.

General anaesthesia

During a general anaesthesia, the person is completely asleep while the anaesthesiologist meticulously controls and monitors breathing. For long procedures, we favour this type of anaesthesia because it provides a higher level of comfort.

Local anaesthesia with sedation

Sedation is a deep anaesthesia through a vein, the person operated on can relax without worrying about feeling pain. This method avoids intubation and the side effects of general anaesthesia.

Loco-regional anaesthesia

The pain is interrupted locally or regionally through an anesthetic under the skin or directly on a nerve plexus. The injection at the beginning burns slightly locally to very quickly numb the area.

Communication and trust are key from the first contact with your surgeon because working together can neutralise the risks.

Frequently asked questions

Skin Boosters (fluid products based on hyaluronic acid) have a shelf life of approximately 6 months. Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that can be absorbed by the body. The body slowly breaks down hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic fillers last between 9 and 24 months, depending on the degree of fluidity (rheology) of the filler used and the injection area. Hybrid loads like Karisma show slower results (over several months) and can last up to 2 years.

Swelling, redness and bruising may occur at the injection site, but this is temporary and will disappear after a few days. Nodules and inflammation are possible. Complications such as vascular occlusion, necrosis or blindness have been described with the use of dermal fillers, however these complications are extremely rare. A detailed knowledge of the anatomy, a conservative amount of the appropriate product and a correct injection technique make dermal fillers very safe and effective products for a natural and harmonious rejuvenation of the face.

During a consultation, the patient’s is asked about their wishes and needs. After the examination and medical advice, a treatment plan is defined in consultation with the patient. In most cases, the treatment can take place on the day of the consultation. The skin is marked with a pen and carefully disinfected. Sensitive areas can be anaesthetised beforehand with a skin anaesthetic cream. The treatment is performed with needles or foam cannulas depending on the area and the indication. Safety is always the top priority. After treatment with loads, no rest time is usually necessary. Sun exposure and strenuous exercise should be avoided for 48 hours. If haematoma or swelling of the skin occurs, it usually disappears in 7 to 10 days. Patients are informed of the specific procedure after their individual filling treatment.
